Known as the ‘People’s Park’, Saltwell Park is at the centre of Gateshead’s community, encompassing 55 acres of landscape – with ornamental and woodland gardens, boating lake, sports facilities, bowling greens, play areas, animal house, maze, education centre and the beautiful Victorian Saltwell Towers.
Saltwell Park is located directly behind and is signposted from the A167. The park can be accessed by pedestrians only from East Park Road, West Park Road, Saltwell Road South, Saltwell View and Joicey Road. The car and coach park is accessed from Durham Road (A167) via Joicey Road.
