Kids Newcastle is a great place to find events, activities and places to visit in Newcastle upon Tyne, Tyne & Wear and surrounding areas including Northumberland & County Durham.  Although we keep the listings local we are happy to add any event that we feel is relevant and accessible to children & families in the North East.

How to use Kids Newcastle

To find What's happening on a particular date click on the date on the calendar on the right and all the events taking place on that day will appear.  These events appear in a random order.

All event providers are listed under Places to Visit.  These are split into categories to make it easier to find something of particular interest.

If you are looking for a particular venue or business use the search function.

If you would like an event listed under 'What's On' or have your business listed why not contact us and let us know the event.

If you would like to support the growth of the site why not email us your details and we will send you a very tasteful Kids Newcastle car sticker that will help spread the word about the site.  You could also email all your friends with children and tell them about the site.  With your help we can continue to expand the site and provide an even better service to parents and kids in the area.

Thanks

Visitor NumbersJuly 2011 - 8684 visitors.  This is an average of 280 unique users every day looking at over 1000 pages every day.  The average user browses through about 4 pages.  This may not seem great but the industry average is half of this meaning that our users find the site infomative and generally meets their needs.  Our stats may not be up to there with the numbers on Facebook but for such a niche market the figures are creditable and growing at over 200% on like for like figures in July 2010.  We hope this expodential growth will continue over the next year and developments to the site should attract more people to bookmark and return to the site again and again.

At this rate we should be close to achieving our annual targets of 100,000 visitors looking at 400,000 pages.  Most visitors come through search engines (92%) with the majority of these through Google.  These numbers have been reached without any marketing.  As the site matures and the content increases it is succeeding in going up in the search engine results to the point that the site is now ahead of the local council sites for relevant searches.  We hope to continue improving both numbers and search engine results in the next few months as well, of course, content.

What's on for children and families

This section lists events and activities by date.  Simply click on the particular date on the calendar on the right and all events for that day will be listed.  There is a huge variety of things to do for children and families because we realise that everyone has different ideas of what activities they and their kids like to do.  We hope you find an event that interests the whole family.  The what's on section lists one-off events which run for a particular length of time.

Regular activities such as swimming, dance classes, trains, beaches etc will be listed in the other sections - places to go, activities, sport & entertainment. If you know of any events or activities that are not listed here please let us know by email and we will add it to the site.Search for interesting places to go using our extensive list of categories to make it easier for you.  Categories include animals & farms, museums, arts & crafts and many more.  All children and families have different interests so we have tried to add as many interesting places as possible. We might have missed one of your favourite places.

Activities

From cubs to dance classes, interesting walks to music classes this section lists a variety of activities (except sports) that run all year round.
SportThe variety of sports available for children seem to be increasing all the time.  Some providers, such as the leisure centres, change their sports and kids activities fairly regularly so trying to keep this section up to date can be quite difficult.  We hope that the activies listed are still relevant and it is always best to contact the place first.  We try to provide phone numbers, website links and email addresses wherever we can.

Entertainment

In this section you will find lots of information about children's parties, soft play areas etc.  In the Theatre section we tend to make a decision about the shows we think are relevant for kids.If you are an after-school club please send us some information on the activies you provide and a photo of your building.
